Tonight family and friends came over for a Chrismas Eve meal and fellowship. The kids played XBOX and tracked Santas’ progress with NORAD at http://www.noradsanta.org/en/home.html. The finally went to bed at 11:00 pm and Santa was at Easter Island Chili and turning around to head back north.
We told the kids that they better get to bed before he gets here or he might not leave them anything.

I have created a Family Photo Album. This will hold almost all the pictures. I suggest you download the CoolIris plugin. It’s very impressive… and the best way to view large galleries of pictures.

I just changed the comments setting to allow posting of comments even if the commentator is not registered. This will hopefully bring more traffic and add more spice to the site. Personally I would like somebody to comment on my Apple iMac predictions.

Hey- check this out! I just checked and it looks like the XBOX repair has been completed and it’s in the process of being shipped back. It’s still too early to see any tracking information but hopefully the box will arive before Christmas!!
I’m not too hopeful because it won’t ship until Monday and then it’s coming from TX so we’re most likely talking UPS ground which is 7-10 days. The only thing that may help is that shipping is top notch right now because of the holiday rush. So maybe there is hope yet… more…

The current temperature is 12 degrees but it feels a lot colder! Although it gets much colder here, the wind is blowing right now and taking into account relative humidity and wind speed of 15 mph it feels like -7. Maybe I’m just getting old…

When I asked my Apple sales rep if I should buy the current iMac or wait until a new one is released- he had the following to say, “I know there isn’t going to be a new iMac released this year… are you feeling me…?” This was his way of telling me that the new iMacs are going to be released very soon, most likely Q1 of 2009. more…

Well, I have Ubuntu running pretty well on my Dell XPS m1210 but I do have one thing happening that I haven’t been able to resolve yet. I can’t seem to play DVD movies. It’s not the player because I can read the disk and copy files from the disks, but when attempting to play the DVD I get a “seek failed” error.
Other than this error it’s running exceptionally well! Windows XP is running under Sun’s VirtualBox and works great. Ubuntu runs great and very effieiently on the m1210 at x64. Even with only 2gb of ram I can run everything I want including Windows XP.

I just finished installing a comfort cove heater to replace the outdated electric baseboard heater in our master bedroom. Last night was -20 and I decided it was time to get serious. I had already removed the old heater and we had been using an oil filled electric radiator. Since we’re only talking about one room it wasn’t a big deal, but this 220 volt 1500 watt heater will be much more efficient. Besides, we like to have it warm in the bed room. more…

What I want to know is where was the Secret Service? Where was the guard who was supposed to take a shoe for the president!? I guess he isn’t that important. I was impressed with how quick the President was at dodging the thrown objects! I hope our next president can dodge lead…
Another good one- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ux3DKxxFoM&NR=1

Well, it’s now shortly after midnight and I just finished changing out the broken glass on the woodstove with the new piece. At about 8:00 this evening a guy from Country Home Outfitters delivered the glass to me at the house. I quickly set out on the task of tearing the door off of the stove to switch out the glass. more…
